How can I test widgets with test data?

The poll numbers are up to date. Test data with results can be displayed on your setup page via "settings" and "show widget with test data".

If you want to test widgets that are already embedded on a test page, add the variable &seasonArchive=s9999 to your index.html URL to display the test data in the widgets.

How and when do simulations take place?

Simulations of the election night usually take place on Tuesdays at 3 pm. Widgets that are already incorporated remain unchanged.

During the simulation, the test data is rolled out in a subdirectory so that simulation results can only be seen in your widgets if you proceed as outlined above.

For exact dates, please see the schedule. A detailed simulation plan will follow.

Incorporation, configuration, adjustment, tracking

dpa Elections-Live is set up modularly: Surveys, distribution of votes and seats, constituency maps - there is a widget for each type of result. All widgets and their graphic elements can be easily incorporated into web articles, or can serve as landing pages for an election. They are also suitable to act as teasers on the front page of a website, to link to pages specifically dedicated to an election.

All widgets are adjustable in regard to shape, colour, and font. They are optimised for desktop websites as well as mobile devices, and can be integrated into apps.

How are the widgets configured and incorporated?

How can I make adjustments?

How do I use IVW tracking or Google Analytics?

What data is displayed when?

  • until the day of the election, the widgets show data based on opinion polls

  • these numbers will be cleared on election night at 5.45 pm (default setting, customisable),

  • followed by estimates, extrapolations, preliminary and final results from 6 pm onwards.

  • Based on the federal or land returning officer, constituency data is usually updated from approx. 8 pm depending on the size of the constituency and the stage of the count.

For the estimates at 6 pm, we first publish the percentage distribution of votes, directly followed by the number of seats.

Which sources are used?

  • polls: Allensbach, Forsa, Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, Insa, Infratest dimap, Kantar (Emdid)

  • ARD and ZDF (estimates, extrapolations)

  • federal returning officer/land returning officer (constituency results, official preliminary and final result)
